Opal

OpalOpal is my second homebred champion. Her dam, Ch. Shaizach Stardust, was my first. These bitches are line bred on some of the breed's most successful dogs from highly respected kennels. Opal excels in her correct structure both front and rear, with hard muscle tone and good spring of rib.

She is moderately sized; has beautiful deep blue color; lovely outline; sweet expression in a light, feminine head; correct finish of underjaw; naturally high-set, small, well tipped ears; and most important, an intelligent, gentle, affectionate temperament that is a joy to be around.

Opal was bred to Lyn Krivanek's Can Ch. Autumngold Laureate Alabama (an Asterisk son) for her first litter, and produced a nice tri bitch, Shaizach Caliente. Opal was then bred to Tom and Nioma Coen's Ch. Pop Star SS of Northern Farm CD (Musashi, to his friends). This very successful breeding produced two show bitches. One, Shaizach One Life to Live, is a gorgeous blue growing up here. She debuted by taking second place in the 9-12 AOAC bitch class at the ASSA National in 2005. The other, Rosmoor Shaizach Starlet, is an equally lovely tri-color co-owned with Jennie Hynes, and lives with her at Rosmoor. Starlet debuted by taking third-place in the Novice class at the ASSA National.

OpalOpal had not been shown as a young bitch due to big changes in my personal life at the time. She started off this year with a bang, taking back-to-back majors at Tri State Shetland Sheepdog Club in April 2005 under judges Barbara Wright and Jan Leonard. She also placed third in the highly competitive, quality-packed Open Blue bitch class under Nioma Coen at the 2005 ASSA National.

Opal finished her championship very quickly, under respected breeder-judges, with Jennie Hynes handling her beautifully.
